Model rockets are not just for little boys in the 1940s. They have evolved and the rocket content is alive and well on TikTok.
Juan Cedillo, @hpr_juan on TikTok, is a hobby rocket scientist who posts videos of his launches. Recently, he claims one launch reached 33,403 feet at Mach 2 speed.
@hpr_juan An other personal altitude record, 33,405’ at Mach 2 flying on a CTI O3400 #rocketrycontent #estesrockets #rocket #nasa #fyp #rockettok #foryou #nsl #nslwest ♬ original sound - Juan Cedillo
The audience found it hard to believe. At one point during the launch the earth's horizon can be seen (take that flat earthers). There is also the question of speed with many people claiming that "there is no way a tiny rocket can get up to Mach 2 speed."

Cedillo answered this by showing his flight computer's stats. The model rocket launched at 1622 mph, and Mach 2 is 1534.54 mph.
He also revealed that the rocket is named Daddy in his GPS unit program.

It is amazing and almost scary what type of technology people can build in their spare time. You can literally be a rocket scientist as a hobby.
